Ending Well...
Wrapping up another semester of Student ministry and saying goodbye for a year of furlough in the States was both stressful and yet rewarding. Packing, preaching, preparing the next set of leaders to carry on the work of the ministry while we are gone dominated our time this past spring and early summer.
One highlight of the semester were the new lunch time meetings that our staff and student leaders started. One in particular was a weekly gathering of Christian students at the Lutheran Teacher's College - a group of born-again students who are all studying to become religion teachers in the public high schools here. This fall they will start a weekly bible study as well - impacting future teachers with a full-gospel message to change the next generation of young people in this country.
Two days before I left the country we threw a giant barbecue/farewell/birthday party at our house. Thank you so much to John & Gayle Butrin and all of our students who made the evening so much fun. We even had our own private accordion/opera concert from two of our students who are majoring in music, Claus & Olivia. Our 4 year old, Jack - was captivated. These young newlyweds have been mentored by us and will be helping direct campus ministries in East Germany during our time in America.
John & Kristen Koeshall will be leading SfC while we are in the States - a very capable and wonderful couple who would also appreciate your prayers
